Classic sets attach one extension to one natural lash, giving length and definition that reads like a great coat of mascara. Volume sets use multiple ultra fine extensions fanned onto each natural lash for noticeably more density and drama. Hybrid mixes both and is the most requested, because it adds fullness while keeping some texture. A lash lift is a different thing entirely, no extensions at all, it perms your own lashes upward so they look longer and your eyes look more open, and it pairs well with a tint if your lashes are light at the tips. Lifts are the low maintenance option, extensions are the higher impact one.
Who it is for
Extensions suit anyone who wants to stop doing eye makeup daily, and they are especially popular before weddings, vacations and events. A lash lift is the better recommendation if your natural lashes are already a decent length but point straight out or down, or if you do not want a refill schedule. Neither is appropriate if you have an active eye infection, conjunctivitis, a stye, or a known adhesive allergy, and we will ask about recent eye surgery. If your natural lashes are very fine or damaged, we may recommend a lighter set or a lift instead, overloading weak lashes is how people end up worse off.
What your appointment is like
You lie down with your eyes closed for the whole appointment, and most clients genuinely nap through it. Your lower lashes are gently isolated with a pad, then each extension is applied individually. A full classic set takes around ninety minutes, a volume set two to two and a half hours. There is no pain. Come with clean lashes and no eye makeup or oil based products, and it is worth avoiding a lot of caffeine beforehand since it makes it harder to keep your eyes still and relaxed. Lash lifts run about forty five to sixty minutes.
Aftercare and refills
Keep extensions completely dry for the first twenty four to forty eight hours while the adhesive cures, then avoid oil based cleansers and makeup removers permanently, oil dissolves the bond. Brush them gently with a spoolie daily, do not pick or pull, and skip waterproof mascara and lash curlers entirely. Sleeping on your face is the most common cause of premature loss. Your natural lashes shed on their own cycle, so extensions need a refill every two to three weeks to stay full. A lash lift needs no maintenance at all and lasts six to eight weeks, and you should keep it dry for the first day.
